Cambridge Family Stories.

Brief Description

  1. Photocopy of the family history of Thomas Westmorland Wright, his wife Harriet and two children who came to New Zealand on the 'Orantes' c1837. More children were born in NZ and Harriet died c 1851. The main subject of the reminiscences is Oliver Wright from the 1860s to the early 1900s. Donated by Ron Wright.
  2. Photocopies of the Bell – Hjorth family arrival in New Zealand on the ships 'Birman' and 'Green Jacket'.
  3. Hand-written notes on Hugh Fitzgerald who married Agnes Fisher in 1855.
  4. 'Life and Times of F J Brooks' compiled by Moira Penman and Margaret Lang and presented to a Cambridge Historical Society meeting. This includes excerpts from his diary written on the ship 'Victory' in 1864 when he and his mother came to New Zealand.
  5. Early Settlers recorded in the Waikato Independent at the time of Cambridge Borough Council Jubilee in 1936.
