'Poetical Work of Mrs F Hemans With Memoir'

Brief Description
'Felicia Dorothea Browne was born in Liverpool, on the 26th September 1793. Her father was a Merchant there, and belonged to an Irish family. Her mother's maiden name was Wagner. She united in her person the solemn flow of German vigour, with the sparkling current of Italian life.'
At age fifteen years, Felicia Browne's first volume of poems were published. The first poem in this book was written when she was eight years old and called 'On My Mother's Birthday'. She married Captain Hemans in 1812 and they had 5 children. She then wrote her poems under the name Mrs Hemans. She died 16 May 1835.
Inscription in the book reads – 'Miss Mary Hall with best wishes from Minnie and Bella Scott Nov 1890.'
