New refrigerated storage facilities and a cheese factory were opened at Hautapu in April of this year. The new factory replaces old works at Hinuera, Bruntwood, Cambridge and Te Awamutu and is reputedly the most modern of its kind in the world. The store will handle cheese, butter and kiwifruit, and the whole complex is served by a private siding. New Zealand Railways will handle this, and along with other freight should be able to respond to any change in traffic which may occur in the near future."
