Title / Name
Booklet 'Te Totara Pa'

Brief Description
Paper in A5 28-page booklet form 'written to make it easier for the student of Maori Ethnology to understand the model of this Ngati Maru pa at Thames. The model is an endeavour to portray the pa as it was when Captain Cook saw it when he visited Hauraki 20 November 1769'.
The story covers the construction of the pa, various aspects of Maori living and the attack in 1821 by Hongi Hika and Nga Puhi.
Survivors of the battle settled on Maungatautari just south of present-day Cambridge.
