Edgar married Freda in England in 1919 after World War One. He came to Cambridge and worked with his brother in the hardware business which was later sold to Ruges.
He became a land agent and involved with the Competition Society.

He served on the Borough Council 1921-1923 and 1933-1937, and was Mayor from 1938 to 1944 (during World War Two).

He died 10 December 1954.
