On 19 August 1886 Cambridge was proclaimed a borough and the first mayor, John Gwynneth presided over the first Cambridge Borough Council meeting on 7 September 1886.

103 years later Mrs Pat Allan as Mayor held the last Cambridge Borough Council meeting before integrating into the Waipa District Council 1 November 1989.
